Star Residences at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng is an award-winning development spearheaded by Alpine Return Sdn Bhd, a joint venture company between established Malaysian property developers, Symphony Life Bhd and United Malayan Land Bhd (UM Land).

Star Residences has bagged numerous the International Property Awards, London for Best Apartment Design, Best Mixed-Use Architecture Design and Mixed-Use Development Concept; and Malaysia’s BrandLaureate Best Brand Award, in Signature Brand Property Luxury Condominium category.

This property located right smack in the KLCC Central Business District of Kuala Lumpur is the latest benchmark for luxury living. It will continue its award-winning, record-setting ways with an entry into the Malaysia Books of Records for Malaysia’s biggest mosaic tiles wall mural art visible from two kilometres away.

The 3-storey mural walls with a combined length of 58.77 metres are installed on the highest floor of Star Residences and Ascott Star KLCC Kuala Lumpur.

The stunning glass tiles combine a bold palette of platinum, gold, white and black dating back to opulent Roman murals but with a contemporary twist. Inspired by nature, myth and environmental conservations, the abstract installation was envisioned and conceptualized by the Chief Executive Officer of Alpine Return Sdn Bhd, Mr. Alan Koh.

“Placemaking sets Star Residences apart making it an aspirational icon of the KLCC area. We challenged ourselves to create a visual narrative that could capture the opulence, elevation and brightness of Star Residences hence the use of gold and platinum. We believe that these majestic glass tile mosaic mural walls art, the longest and the tallest at an elevation of over 250 meters are a first in Malaysia, and possibly in the region. This is a gift to our residents and guests, and to visitors to Kuala Lumpur as it is visible from afar. While the Covid-19 pandemic has significantly reduced tourists to the city, the Star Development is certain that better days are ahead,” Mr. Alan Koh says.

The process of assembling the mega murals took three months, and a further two months to install by hand. The total costs for the project is estimated at RM1.5million. Approximately 6.7 million 10mmX10mmX4mm Mozetti Classic mosaics were used in bringing the three murals to life with detailed color transitions.

In addition to earning Star Residences a place in record books, the mural arts highlight the company's effort to strike a balance between conservation and creation, while straddling current concerns by using an ancient art form.

The award ceremony was attended by Mr. Alan Koh, Chief Executive Officer of Alpine Return Sdn Bhd, Mr. Teo Lian Seng, Project Director of Alpine Return Sdn Bhd, Mr. Billy Teoh, Sales and Marketing General Manager of Alpine Return Sdn Bhd, Mr. Jwan Yeow Hooi, Director, Business Development, Malaysia Book of Records and Mr. Edwin Yeoh Tiong Chin, Operations, Research and Marketing Manager of Malaysia Book of Records.

According to Mr. Jwan Yeow Hoi, Director, Business Development, Malaysia Book of Records (MBR), Star Residences is one of the first entrants into the Malaysia Book of Records since the Movement Control Order to flatten the COVID-19 curve began.

“Star Residences has been certified as setting the record for the biggest mosaic tile wall mural in Malaysia. These high-visibility, magnificent artworks are a relevant and timely addition to the KLCC skyline as a shining beacon of hope for the recovery ahead,” says Mr. Jwan Yeow Hoi.
