UDA Holdings Bhd is looking at rolling out at least 5 residential projects targeted towards young home buyers in 2020. According to UDA Holdings President and CEO Mohd Salem Kailany, they plan to build about 1,000 homes within Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor Bahru, Kuantan, and Kuala Terengganu.

In an interview with EdgeProp.my, Salem stated that, “The most exciting project will be the 38 Bangsar development which will be launched in the middle of this year.” 38 Bangsar is targeted towards young city dwellers who are looking for a home close to the city centre. It is strategically positioned only 350 metres away from the Bangsar LRT Station.

He noted that many of the urban young income earners reside with their families in the city’s outskirts, or rent a room to be close to their workplace. He stated that these are his target market, as the accommodation rental prices in the city is steep at between RM1,000 to RM1,500. Instead of renting a room, they can purchase an affordable starter home in the city.

The price and built-ups of 38 Bangsar will however only be revealed closer to its launch date.

On top of their upcoming launches of landed properties in Johor Bahru, Kuantan, Pahang, and Kuala Terengganu, UDA Holdings will also be introducing a RUMAWIP project near Jalan Jubli targeted towards young working adults, priced from below RM300,000.

He stated that, “We still see strong demand from genuine buyers looking for properties with affordable pricing and with features that meet their requirements. For instance, in Kuantan, we will roll out a semi-D project selling around RM600,000 per unit aimed at families who are looking for affordable but spacious homes.”

In response to the property market slowdown, Salem stated that they will be conducting market studies to ensure that they offer the right product to the market. He further stated that there will always be compelling reasons and opportunities to buy a property, and that they just need to find out what they are.
