About Brickfields

Properties for Sale in Brickfields

Brickfields is the famous Little India of Kuala Lumpur, located just minutes away from the city centre. As can be expected, the majority population of this little residential area are Indians, with their colourful customs and culture.

Brickfields is a general hub of busyness throughout the day and night, with the entire main street lined with shops offering Indian cuisines and shops to delight visitors and locals alike. On top of that, the area was recently refurbished and now boasts colourful and upgraded streets and beautiful sculpture pieces. Aside from its cuisines and sights, Brickfields is also home to many Chinese temples, Indian temples and churches; many of these over a hundred years old.

Although Brickfields is a historical place, it is unfortunately also generally known to be a hub of illicit activities filled with brothels and a high crime rate. Residents have complained that the criminal activities in Brickfields increased to an unbearable rate when the police decided to moved their headquarters out of Brickfields and onto Old Klang Road. Issues faced by residents of Brickfields include break-ins into apartments, snatch thefts and ruckuses caused by unruly youths.

Nevertheless, the image is gradually improving due to a massive facelift of the area, followed by an increased police presence in form of police booths in the area. However, residents have mentioned that activities such as prostitution still thrive, especially during the weekends.

Facing rapid development, the disparities of Brickfields are further shown as one can find buildings with colonial influence in the middle of a concrete jungle while being surrounded by modern infrastructures and new commercial buildings.

As the KL Sentral travel hub is located within a short drive away, traffic in the area is quite nasty during peak hours, which during major festivals turn into major traffic gridlocks amidst the colourful and vibrant celebrations.
