Bukit Jelutong is an upscale suburban town of Shah Alam with an area of over 2,200 acres developed by Guthrie Property Holding Berhad (GPHB), a subsidiary of Sime Darby. Residential units in Bukit Jelutong consist mostly of low-density bungalows, duplex houses, and terrace houses. This planned community also houses many parks and open-grassy areas.
Formerly an oil palm plantation known as the Bukit Jelutong Estate, it was owned by the Guthrie Berhad Group. The development of the plantation only began in 1996 with the construction of the Guthrie Pavilion building, currently the HQ of the GPHB.
Bukit Jelutong eventually emerged as a much sought-after address in Shah Alam ever since, with consistent property launches whereby the price levels of its real estate approaches the price levels of the more established areas in Klang Valley. In 2005, the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) that connects Bukit Jelutong to Rawang was opened.

The industrial park is situated in the eastern outskirts of the town. Traffic going in and out of Bukit Jelutong remains smooth as the ELITE Highway was erected to ensure smooth traffic flow bypassing Kuala Lumpur. However, during the rainy season, traffic congestion can become a problem at peak hours. Thunderstorms have proven to uproot trees and signboards and strong winds have been known to blow off factory roofs in the industrial area and cause massive traffic jams. A thunderstorm occurred in September 2014, wreaking havoc in Shah Alam.
