Central Region IJM Land Bhd senior general manager Dato' Hoo Kim See announcing the theme for IJM Land Designer Awards 2019.

IJM Land Designer Awards (iLDA) 2019 kicked off in IJM Land Seremban 2 sales gallery yesterday, with the announcement of the competition theme, Modern Family & Spaces.

Standing for creativity and innovation, iLDA 2019 serves as a platform for young interior designers to showcase their ability to think out-of-the-box in bringing ordinary spaces to life, giving them recognition and exposure among industry experts.

Through this initiative, IJM Land aims to enable young interior designers to expand their horizons, propelling the interior design community to achieve greater standards.

Aiming to award only the best fresh interior designers in Malaysia, the competition offers participants to actualise their designs in a unit of Kalista 2 Executive Apartments in Seremban 2.

Over a six month period, IJM Land and the distinguished panel judges of iLDA are tasked with filtering through numerous entries to select the best 20 interior designers to create a home that incorporates the theme of Modern Family & Spaces.

Shortlisted participants will then have an opportunity to attend private industry visits, providing them with the experience on the intricacies of construction and renovation, offering them in-depth industry knowledge and advice from leading experts.

Designers will then have 20 days to complete revisions and present their final submissions to the panel of judges, where only the top two designers will progress toward the final leg of the competition, where they will have to bring their concept to life in terms of design implementation and renovation works at Kalista 2 apartment in Seremban 2. Once completed, the units will be open for viewing as show units, aside from being subjected to public voting to determine the best design.

Central Region of IJM Land Bhd senior general manager Dato’ Hoo Kim See elaborated, “The concept of Modern Family & Spaces revolves around providing family members with enough space to enjoy their personal time, while also having enough communal spaces for the whole family to come together.”

Dato’ Hoo added, “We understand that the home environment plays a very role in the happiness of a family and we want to offer homeowners a conducive and functional living space for families to flourish.”

IJM Land Designer Awards had its first award ceremony in 2016, garnering over 200 participants during their first initiative.

Returning to the spotlight this year, iLDA 2019 aims to continuously support the development of the interior design community by encouraging young designers to meet industry requirements and progress towards international standards.
